Grand Island, NE — The Hornady® 300 PRC has won the Ballistic Best Editors Choice award for Best New Caliber.

The awards acknowledge manufacturers who took things to new heights in 2019. The magazine’s editors honored special companies and products for their quality and innovation.

“Spend enough time in the firearms world, and you’ll see quite a few new cartridges introduced to a lot of fanfare before slowly disappearing,” the Ballistic editors wrote in introducing the award for Best New Caliber. “It usually stems from a lack of market support, or the round doesn’t really perform as expected. Well, none of that applies to Hornady’s 300 Precision Rifle Cartridge (PRC).”

Tested and selected by the U.S. Department of Defense for its extended long-range sniping program, the 300 PRC launches heavy-for-caliber, high-performance bullets accurately and efficiently. Based on the 375 Ruger cartridge case, the 300 PRC uses common, temperature-stable, magnum-speed rifle powders for consistent velocity and increased barrel life.

The 300 PRC is available in 225 gr ELD® Match and 212 gr ELD-X® Precision Hunter®.

Ballistic editors noted that, at 500 yards, the 225 gr ELD® Match still travels at 2,250 feet per second with 2,528 foot-pounds of energy.
