Koenig Wins PRS Production Division Using A-Tip™ Bullets

Grand Island, NE — World champion professional shooter Doug Koenig turned to A-Tip™ Match bullets from Hornady® to win the Production Division at the Precision Rifle Series Finale on Nov. 17 in Finger, TN.

A-Tip Packaging photoThe PRS Production Division requires competitors to use a rifle and optic with a combined MSRP, as listed on the company’s website, that doesn’t exceed $4,000. The rifle and scope must each be valued individually at less than $2,000.

Koenig, a Pennsylvania-based shooter, finished 32nd overall in a field of 150 of the world’s best shooters. His finish at the finale also won him the 2019 season Production Division championship.

Koenig’s bullet of choice for the finale, the A-Tip™, was introduced in mid-2019 after years of research and testing by the Hornady® Ballistic Development Group and has already taken the competitive shooting world by storm.

Six of the top 10 PRS shooters also chose A-Tip™ bullets, which feature an aluminum tip that’s precision machined and longer than polymer tips. That moves the center of gravity and enhances inflight stability, resulting in tighter groups and reduced drag variability.

In addition, A-Tip™ bullets are sequentially packaged for the ultimate in consistent performance.

“I’m relatively new to long-range precision rifle competitions,” Koenig said, “but it’s the combination of shooting from fixed or uneven barricades, to the variety of shooting positions and distances, that has captured my excitement for this sport.”

“We’ve been working for years to provide this level of bullet performance to the shooting community,” Hornady® Vice President Jason Hornady said. “So, seeing our efforts come to fruition like this is truly rewarding. We knew we had some outstanding products, but if they weren’t in the right hands, their potential wouldn’t have been realized.”
