ELD® Match Bullets Lead Three Shooters to Place in Texas PRS Competition

Kopperl, TX — The superiority of the Hornady® 6mm 108 gr ELD® Match bullet was demonstrated once again as three Hornady®-sponsored shooters placed in the top 15 at the Precision Rifle Series Bushnell Lonestar Challenge on Sept. 9-10 in Kopperl, Texas.

Hornady® shooter Justin Vinyard of Oklahoma took first place, while Tate Streater tied for 11th and Jonathan Berry of Texas finished 14th. All three were shooting 6mm Creedmoor using Hornady® 108 gr ELD® Match bullets and Hornady® brass.

The ELD® Match (Extremely Low Drag Match) bullet owes its superior accuracy to several factors, beginning with its Heat Shield® tip, which stands up to aerodynamic heating and retains its shape.

In addition, its streamlined secant ogive with optimum boattail design, combined with AMP® (Advanced Manufacturing Process) bullet jackets, creates a supremely accurate bullet with high ballistic coefficients.

Vinyard joined the Professional Rifle Series in 2013. A Top-15 finisher in the PRS points race in 2016, he’s currently ranked 20th overall.

“I've been shooting Hornady® ammo all year, and it's been amazingly consistent and just kept banging steel all weekend!” Vinyard said. “I love the high BC of the 108 grain ELD® Match and how easy it has been to load.

“Coupled with the 6 Creedmoor and Hornady® brass, it has been a crazy accurate combo for me,” he said. “It's awesome to have 100% confidence in your ammo going into a match.”

The Bushnell Lonestar Challenge, formerly known as the Outback Precision Rifle Challenge, featured a mix of prone and barricade stages in a new shooting venue about 75 miles southwest of Dallas. Eighty-two shooters competed. Of the other Hornady® shooters who placed, Streater is now ranked 17 and Berry, 25.

The Precision Rifle Series was created to organize a championship-style point series race of the best precision rifle competitions and shooters in the nation. Scores are formulated and recorded to track the status, profile and ranking of shooters, bringing more exposure to shooters and the sport alike.
