Competition Results: April 2014
Team Hornady® members put the accuracy and dependability of Hornady® bullets to the test during a variety of multi-disciplined April competitions, including 3-Gun, IDPA and USPSA matches.
Jeff Cramblit (shown above) won the Heavy Metal Optics Division at the Bushmaster Tarheel 3-Gun Championship April 5-6, 2014 in New Hill, N.C. Cramblit chose a winning combination, shooting Hornady® 308 Win 155-grain BTHP Steel Match® ammunition in his rifle and 9mm 124-grain FMJ bullets in his handgun. "Hornady Steel Match bullets were very accurate even with awkward shooting positions and smaller targets," said Cramblit. "I never doubted the capability of this rifle ammunition combination."
Patrick Kelly and Tate Moots both competed at the Texas Multi-Gun Championship, April 11-13, 2014 in Austin, Texas. Kelly turned in a strong performance with a third place finish in the Limited Division shooting Hornady® 223 Rem 55-grain Steel Match®. Moots delivered a second place finish in Tac Heavy Division shooting Hornady® 308 Win 155-grain A-MAX® for the longer-range rifle stages.
Keith Garcia turned in a top five performance at the 3-Gun Nation Pro Series event #2 on April 12, at the US Shooting Academy in Owasso, Okla., an event that drew many of the country's top 3-Gun competitors.
Bobby McGee smoked things up on the IDPA circuit with his revolver, winning the Arizona State IDPA ESR Division, and the Overall Division Champion April 12-14, 2014. Shooting Hornady® 230-grain FMJ-RN in his 45, McGee said, "Hornady bullets have put me in all of my top finishes, which proves just how great these bullets are." With 10 stages that included a lot of headshots and partial targets covered by non-threat targets, McGee added, "This was definitely an accuracy match and Hornady bullets came to play."
Jessie Duff won the Ladies Open and Lady Area Champion of the USPSA Area 6 Championship April 12-13, 2014, held at the South River Gun Club in Covington, Ga. Shooting Hornady® 9mm 125-grain HAP® bullets in her pistol, Duff said, "Whether I'm shooting long distance targets or close up steel, I am always confident that my Hornady ammo will do its job." Winning both titles on Duff's home range in Georgia was nostalgic as family and friends were there to cheer her on.
