Team Hornady® members produced winning results at the 2013 MGM Ironman. Hosted by the Parma Rod and Gun Club in Idaho, June 2-5, 2013, the Ironman tests the endurance and physical stamina of competitors and their equipment with its grueling course of fire. Spread out amongst 400 acres of Idaho desert, some of the popular 10 stages include strapping a competitor into a harness to engage targets from a 300 foot zip line, climbing a 20 foot shooting platform, driving a golf cart while shooting a pistol and shotgun, and carrying a 150 pound duffle bag around a bay and up a ladder.

The first shot fired at 7:00 am and the last at 7:45 pm, and competitors called upon years of shooting skills, and developed a strategic game plan to rack up the most points at targets set as close as one yard, and out to 825 yards.

Returning champion Michael Voigt (pictured above) won his fourth consecutive Open Division title shooting Hornady® 125 grain 9mm HAP® bullets in his pistol, Hornady® 55 grain V-MAX® and 75 grain BTHP Match™ 223 bullets in his rifle, and Hornady® 6.5 Creedmoor 140 grain in his long-range rifle. Explaining his choice of Hornady® ammo, Voigt said, "Good ammunition is a necessary part of hitting hard targets at speed, and Hornady always delivers for me." Voigt added, "The Ironman is a marathon, and shooting Hornady 55 grain V-MAX was key to speed, and the 75 grain ammo wind bucking design and its hard hitting momentum was a great advantage."

Delivering a repeat performance, Maggie Reese won High Lady in the Open Division shooting Hornady® 125 grain 9mm HAP® bullets in her pistol, Hornady® 55 grain V-MAX® and 75 grain BTHP Match™ 223 bullets in her rifle, and Hornady® 6.5 Creedmoor 140 grain in her long-range rifle.

Winning the Heavy Optics Division for the fourth year in a row, Barry Dueck shot Hornady® 147 grain XTP® 9mm in his pistol, Hornady® 178 grain BTHP match in his 308 rifle, and Hornady® 6.5 Creedmoor 140 grain A-MAX® in his long-range rifle. Dueck said, "While endurance is important in this match, I've got to depend on my ammo to perform through the varying crosswinds we experienced every day. Hornady makes that happen."

Team Hornady® member and Assistant Match Director, Travis Gibson, finished second in the Open Division and placed third in the Scoped Tactical Division shooting Hornady® NTX® 35 grain for the close range targets in his rifle.

Having previously won the Scoped Tactical division three times, Bennie Cooley delivered a strong performance to finish fifth, shooting Hornady® 124 grain 9mm Steel Match® in his pistol, Hornady® 53 grain A-MAX® 223 Superformance® in his rifle, and Hornady® 6.5 Grendel chambering 123 grain A-MAX® in his long-range rifle. Cooley shared, "I relied on Hornady Heavy Magnum Turkey loads in my shotgun, which were 'the heat' for engaging those long distance plate racks and the MGM spinners." Cooley added, "I'm drawn to the Ironman because it's a formidable match that challenges me both mentally and physically."
