8th NRA World Action Pistol Championships

Team Hornady® members Doug Koenig and Jessie Duff, celebrated multiple wins at the 8th NRA World Action Pistol Championships, and proudly wore red, white and blue as members of Team USA. Competing at Germany's largest indoor/outdoor range in Philippsburg, the Bavarian countryside gave competitors an opportunity to take in the local culture, sights and hospitality of the host country. The biennial match will return to the United States in 2014, at the Rockcastle Shooting Center in Park City, Kentucky.

The NRA World Action Pistol Championship match consists of four events - the Practical, Barricades, Mover Target, and Falling Plates - which are shot over the course of three days. The aggregate of each individual's score in the four events determines the winner of the Championship, and each competitor's final placing.

Doug Koenig (shown above) won the overall match with a score of 1916-184x, winning the Barricades and Mover Target events. Additionally Koenig was a member of the US Open Team, which placed first. Shooting a customized load of Hornady® .357 110 grain XTP® bullets in his 38 Super pistol, Koenig said, "Hornady bullets give me World Championship results. It doesn't get any better than shooting 12-shot, one-inch groups at 50 yards."

Jessie Duff won the Ladies Open Division with a score of 1900-151x. She also won the Ladies Shoot-off, and took second place as a member of the US Open Team. Shooting Hornady® 115 grain XTP® bullets in her 9mm pistol, Duff commented, "The WAPC is strictly about accuracy. Hornady XTP is my bullet of choice, because it's extremely accurate and reliable, and this is the match where it counts the most."

Team Hornady® member Thomas Glas, finished seventh overall in the Open Division with a score of 1909-145x and took second place with Team Germany. Shooting Hornady® 125 grain HAP® bullets in his 9mm pistol, Glas said, "I never doubt my ammo when I step to the shooting line. Hornady bullets provide outstanding accuracy and reliability."
