Two IBS records set with A‑Max® bullets

Steve Sabo of Leechurg, Pennsylvania brought precision to a whole new level by setting two aggregate International Benchrest Shooters (IBS) records in 2011. He was honored for his accomplishment during the 2012 IBS Annual Meeting in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, where he was also named the 2011 IBS 1,000-Yard Shooter of the Year.

Shooting Hornady® A-MAX® bullets in his 300 Winchester Short Magnum, Sabo set the Heavy Gun 1,000-yard, 10-match group aggregate record, with an average group size of 6.0244", and the 6-match group aggregate record, with an average group size of 5.2865". The targets were shot from April to August 2011, at the Harry Jones Memorial 1,000 Yard Gun Club in Fairview, West Virginia.

All 1,000-yard benchrest competitions are shot at a distance of 1,000 yards, with 10-match scores accumulating over a season of shooting. The objective is placing five or 10 shots on a target as close together as possible. No more than two matches can be shot per day. The six best scores from those 10 matches are used to determine the 6-match group aggregates.
