Summer Ends with Winning Results

Members of Team Hornady competed in two Area USPSA Handgun Championships and a State IPSC match this summer and attributed their wins to using Hornady XTP and HAP bullets.

EGW AREA 8 CHAMPIONSHIP

Travis Tomasie, who recently joined Team Hornady, won the Limited Division Overall at the 2011 EGW Area 8 Championship, held between September 1-4th at the Fredericksburg Rod & Gun Club in Virginia. The match drew over 300 competitors. There were 10 stages with wide-open targets that made for a fast match and a high hit factor.

"It was very exciting to shoot this match as a first time Hornady sponsored shooter," said Tomasie. "I shot Hornady 180 grain HAP bullets for two main reasons. First, it provides a good compromise of felt recoil. And second, the speed of the round is necessary to shoot these types of targets."

Louisiana native, Max Michel finished a strong second in the Open Division of the EGW Area 8 Championship shooting Hornady 125 grain HAP. And finishing in second place, in the women's Open Division of the EGW Area 8 Championship, was Jessie Harrison, shooting Hornady 125 grain XTP.

USPSA AREA 4 CHAMPIONSHIP
No stranger to celebrating numerous wins at Area 4, Blake Miquez ran the 13 stages while shooting Hornady 200 grain XTP bullets. He won High Overall in the Limited Division at the 2011 USPSA Area 4 Championship that was held between September 1-5th at the Double Tap Ranch in Wichita Falls, TX.

"The match was dynamic with stages that required running and crunching, and shooting through small portals," commented Miquez, world speed pistol competitor, about the challenging shooting range that was held at the Double Tap Ranch in Texas.

Also performing admirably at Area 4 was Nic Neel who finished in fifth place in the Open Division. Shooting Hornady 125 grain HAP bullets, Neel stated, "I really enjoyed shooting Stage 8 because there was one shot at an eight-inch plate with a penalty target behind it. By using HAP bullets, I was able to make the accurate shots without any penalties on that stage."

GEORGIA STATE IPSC CHAMPIONSHIP
Shooting in her home state, Jessie Harrison won the Overall Ladies Open title and won A Class in the Open Division at the Georgia State IPSC Championship. The competition was held at the Cherokee Gun Club in Gainseville, Georgia between September 9-10th.
