Team Hornady had strong visibility at the USPSA 2011 Area 6 Championship held at Universal Shooting Academy in Frostproof, Florida, and at the Texas Multi-Gun Championships in Liberty Hill, Texas. Both matches drew hundreds of top-level professional shooters and recreational shooters with the end results favoring various members of Team Hornady in many divisions for an overall successful
weekend.
The Area 6 Championship encompasses the seven states of the Southeast and is the largest USPSA match outside the U.S. Nationals. Shooters from 26 states in addition to Canada, Jamaica, Brazil, Ecuador, Puerto Rico and Venezuela made up the field of 370 shooters attempting to outgun one another in a Level three match encompassing 12 stages designed by Rick Muinos and Tony Hyatt.
Shooting directly into the sun had little impact as Jessie Abbate took High Lady in the Open Division, Max Michel finished a close second in the Open Division and Blake Miquez finished second overall in the Limited Division. Max said, "I used 125 grain HAP bullets for this match because of their smooth feeding and accuracy; it's all about having the best equipment when I'm out there running and gunning." Blake added, "I used 40 caliber 200 grain XTP Hornady bullets for this match because they're the most accurate projectile on the market, there is no other."
Despite the Lone Star state greeting the 375 shooters of the Texas Multi-gun Championship with 30-40 mph gusting winds that affected both shotgun slugs and long range rifle bullets, Team Hornady took the top four places in the Heavy Optics Division at the Best of the West Shooting Sports facility. Mike Voigt won the Open Division, Barry Dueck won Heavy Optics and was followed by Adam Popplewell, Jeff Cramblit and Benny Hill.
Hornady Marketing Operations Manager, Neal Emery added, "This was a very well-run match in a challenging environment. Our Team Hornady shooters did an excellent job with many top 10 placements in addition to the wins."
